Quick tip time!
Have you ever run out of your favorite mascara, and for whatever reason been unable to get a new tube? I was talking to a co-worker last week about this exact situation, and she explained that spending a lot of money on a pseudo-necessity like makeup just wasn’t justifiable because she is trying to save money. I’ve been there myself, and I’ve found that you just have to be inventive if you want to sneak around a tricksy budget.
Next time you’re in a pinch, try this: save the wands from your expensive tubes, clean them off, and use them with a budget brand. Soak your wand in makeup remover for about 10 minutes, then give it a good scrub with warm water and soap. Disinfect by swishing the brush in some isopropyl alcohol, and presto! You’ve got yourself a new tool. If you clean and store it like you would your other makeup brushes, it should last you a long time.
For me, a great mascara brush is far more important than the formula it comes with. My all-time fave is the pink-capped brush from MAC Haute & Naughty. I think it’s the ‘haute’ end? I don’t know if I qualify for anything called ‘naughty.’ And when I’m shopping for a frugal formula to use my wands with, I usually buy classic, pink & green Maybelline Great Lash. Try it out with your personal favorite mascaras, and let us know how it turns out!

Hmm… that’s a really interesting idea. Thanks for the tip!
